Watercolor on Gesso

Watercolor on Gesso 12x12

It’s donation season again, and as posted last week I did a set of paintings on puzzles for the Arts & Science Council. This week it was a similar process for Artspace in Raleigh. I was given a 12 inch square piece of plywood to do whatever, so I took the opportunity to experiment. I gessoed the board impasto with thick hills and valleys, then set it up in one of the rain machines and let it go.

Puzzle 3 Watercolor

These three puzzle pictures were done for the Arts and Science Council fundraiser. They gave me three blank puzzles with that cardboard glossy surface that puzzles have. It was a challenging paper to make watercolors on, but I made it work.

The images came from some wall shots I took but never made into final pieces. They were fun to do, and they came out rather nice I thought.
